Thriller Sub - genres.

The different thriller sub - genres are: Psychological, Action, Political, Crime...

Psycholog
ical thrillers tend to reverse a formula to a certain degree, emphasizing the characters then the plot. these kinds of thrillers normally is related to the mind, and they are mental rather than physical in nature.

Action thrillers normally work on features that the hero/heroine races against the clock in order to save whatever they're saving It usually contains violence, large amounts of guns, explosions and large elaborate sets for the action to take place.

Political thrillers is normally set against the backdrop of a political power struggle. they usually involve various plots, though rarely legal, designed to give political power to someone, whilst his/her opponents try to stop him from getting it.

Crime thrillers is obviously a crime (genre) and with their detectives, criminals and their motives. It's usually from mainstream fiction and other genres such as science and historical thrillers. But boundaries can be - and may be intended - blurred.

The thriller that most inspires me at the moment is 'Cellular'. It's a psychological thriller, and throughout the film, near to the end, the two main characters are on phone, who are Jessica Martin, who is the kidnapped person calling Ryan to help her. This sort of film fasinates me, because it links to your mind, and you feel that you're in Jessica's shoes, all scared. Also, for me, it's a different way on
doing psycho
logical, because it uses phones. However, it's a bit similar to 'Red Eye'. :) At times, they do 'shaky camera' which gives the impact that you are also the scene and can really feel the tension.
