This is a screen shot of a program called LiveType, which is a type of software commonly used as an aid to people making titles for films. My line 'Los Campesinos!' was adapted in many ways, as it was seen in jerky writing on an alleyway wall. You could also make the words move around the screen and change the colours of everything. It was very easy to use and set out well.
This is a screen shot of a program called Soundtrack Pro, software that allows a person to make soundtracks with a lot of layers and different sounds all together. This was also easy to use. as you just drag and drop.
- Action Thriller
These films tend to contain a lot of violence and has hidden 'crime' & 'mystery' thrillers within. Usually, there a large amount of guns and explosions used. Fast editing paste and low-pitched strong/loud music have an affect on this genre. An example of an action thriller movie could be James Bond films.
- Crime Thriller
Crime thrillers are films that are very suspencfull. Crime thrillers are based on criminals rather than policeman! They have elements of 'psychological' thriller. This is because of the storylines. The films tend to be about murderers, robberies, chases and shootouts.
- Drama Thriller
Drama thrillers contain elements of thiller and drama films. They are generally slow paced compared to the other sub-genres. They involve great deal of character developement along with plot twists. A famous drama thriller was 'The Prestige'.
This sub-genre is less violent compared to many of the others. They still contain violence, but not as much as others. Instead they are more emotional / mental rather than physical. A classic pyschological thriller could be 'Shadow of a doubt'.
- Science Fiction (sci-fi) Thriller
Sci-Fi thrillers contain many other sub-genres within. They are generally based on techniqal things. They are less likely to be land based, and have a lot of action. These kind of films are less realistic compared to the othe sub-genres.
- Religious Thriller
Religious thriller films are based on conflicts within a religion / religions. Problems and suspence that occur with things to do with religion. Such as a story about Djinns. A good example of religious thriller would be 'The Da Vinci Code'.
The whole idea of the film 'United 93' is based on what happened on September, 9 2001. (the hijacked planes in the US which created a disaster! This automatically made the audience think and wonder about when action will take place, as a lot is unexpected!
There was many techniques used in the film to build up tension and create suspence. One of these were the way the characters had played their roles. The silence of terrorists (at the start until towards the end of the film!) made the audience wonder about when the mission on the hijacked plane was going to take place or were the passengers going to be saved?
Another technique that helped the suspence build up in the film was the music. The heavy beat, loud sounds was one of the main reasons why it was so suspencefull.
Also, camera work was important in sence of creating suspence. Fast camerawork, strong editing skills, extreme close ups and the use of shakey camera made the audeince feel asthough they could clearly sence what the passengers were going through which was another way to create suspence in a Thriller movie!
This could be used as a thriller film, as there would be suspense created by the thrill of the affair being found out about, as both John Terry and Vanessa Perroncel, girlfriend of Wayne Bridge, Terry's ex best friend and team mate, had other partners and children. Also, as John Terry is a famous footballer, especially in England, the scandal when it came to the eyes of the British media would be stressful to see from the point of view of Terry. It could be made in such a way that we don't know if he will lose his position of Captaining England's football team, and we, as the audience, are worried for him and his floundering career.

Action thriller - contains a lot of violence, and an obvious antagonist. Usually contain large amounts of guns, explosions, and huge sets for the action to take place in. These films often have elements of mystery and crime. For example, the James Bond films, The Transporter, and the Bourne trilogy.
Crime thriller - These films often focus on criminals, rather than the authorities. Crime thrillers usually emphasize action over psychological aspects. Common topics of these films include murders, robberies, chases, shootouts, and double-crosses. Some examples include The Killing, Seven, Reservoir Dogs, Inside Man, and The Asphalt Jungle.
Medical thriller - The hero is usually working to solve an expanding medical problem in this sub-genre. Medical thrillers are commonly used as topics for books as well as films. For example, Casualty, west Wing.
My biggest inspiration right now is probably the action thriller genre, or a war thriller, as these are both genres that have done well in box offices recently and would be quite fun to make and invent plotlines for
United 93 was a film which was released in 2006. United 93 premiered on April 26, 2006 at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. It was released in June 2, 2006 in the UK. The film contained facts about the hijacks that happened abroad at the United Airlines during September 11, 2001. The film was supported by several passengers family members. The film is based on one of the four planes that was hijacked.
The film starts of as a plane black screen were we are only able to hear the Quran being read. After a while of the muslim mans praying and shaving scenes etc. The man says "It's time." This creates tension and the audience is unaware of everything thats going on. This makes the audience think and creates a suspence atmosphere!
Leaving for Newark International Airport. At the airport, passengers get on the plane so it can take off, however within half an hour of the journey, Flight 93 is delayed for 30 minutes due to high volume of traffic. Although it was anounced asthough they had to delay the plane because of traffic, the audience were still able to understand that there was something unusuall about this situation. The 4 terrorists in the plane wasnt saying much but their body language and quietness was creating suspence. The 3 other planes that were hijacked had taken off.
Later on in the film, the flight 93 takes off again and the suspence truely beggins! There are 4 terrorists on the plane that are shown as the people that are going to course a problem. However, one of these people looks as though he doesnt want to do anything. He looks scared and has constantly been praying to God. Also we saw him making a phone call and telling somebody that he loves them. This shows that, this specific man doesnt want to be hijacking the plane. He is emotional and suspencefull at the same time. The reverse psychology builds up the tension, leaves the audience wondering if he might not do anything.
Then in a sudden, everything starts to take off. It all starts when one of them go into the WC to put a fake bomb around his waist which is made out of clay and plastic!
While all of this was happening, the other 3 hijacked planes had taken action from before.
The Air Traffic Controllers were shocked about what was going on! When one of the other planes aimed and crashed into the Twin Towers, the whole of the room of Air Traffic Controllers went silent! It was on live news and everybody was shocked.
The fact that the crashes happened one after another and the fact that everybody was shocked, scared and worried. This was where the audience was on the edge of their seats as they didnt know when Flight 93 would crash or would it.
The 4 terrorists on the plane are terrorising the passengers and scaring everybody at the point where theres roughly 20 minutes for them to reach to their aim. At this point the audience feels asthough they know that the terrorists would do exactly what the other 3 planes had done! Just then some of the passengers get together and make a quick plan due to that fact that they believe that they need to try to do something and that its better than just waiting to see what would happen. The passengers plan to attact the terrorists within a sudden. Just when everybodies hopes come up and the audience thinks that there might be a change, with the sudden attact, they do not reach their aim. We hear a load of people screaming and the scene turns black. The plane crashes in the middle of a field, ending with nobodies aim working!
